課程簡介
This class focuses on the pronunciation of North American English. The course will cover consonant and vowel sounds of English; stress, rhythm and intonation patterns of words and phrases; patterns affecting speech such as deletions, insertions, and linking; and differences between spelling and speech. Students will practice speaking and listening using a variety of techniques with the aim of learning the speech patterns of North American English. Students will also evaluate their own speech in order to become more competent and confident speakers.

1. Consonants and vowels pronunciation accuracy 2. Rhythm, stress, and intonation of words and phrases 3. Patterns common to linking, assimilation, deletion, and insertions in connected speech 4. Listening and producing the intonation of different sentence types 5. Perceiving and producing past tense and plural endings 6. Understand the differences between spelling and pronunciation of English words. 7. Recognize how students' speech patterns differ from North American pronunciation patterns
